Galápagos National Park Fee

The delicate balance between tourism and conservation - Posted by Marianne Salmans

“Choose a journey where you enjoy the unique nature, whilst knowing that you are traveling with operators who respect the environment in order to protect the same nature you are admiring.”

Tourism is the third largest export industry in the world after chemicals and fuels. To travel brings hope, prosperity and understanding of mankind and nature to many people around the world. In the delicate balance between increasing tourism and the pressure on our natural environment, we seek how to enable this powerful global transformative force to contribute to preserving and enriching the environment, rather than causing its destruction.

Increase in tariff

As of 1 August 2024, the Galapagos Islands will implement their first new entrance fee structure in over 26 years. The fee of US$100 for adults (13 years and above) will increase to US$200 per person. This measure, promoted by the Galapagos National Park and the Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism, aims to strengthen the conservation of the archipelago and ensure a sustainable future for tourism.

It signifies additional, and much-needed, funds for financing conservation efforts, local community infrastructure upgrades, environmental services, and education projects, among others. Safeguarding the well-being of residents, visitors, and the entire ecosystem ensures that the Galapagos Islands continue to captivate their visitors for many years to come. At Aves Travels, we embrace these changes as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism. Your contribution through these entrance fees will play a crucial role in supporting conservation efforts.
