Stay at your own private nature reserve, giant tortoises, wild horses, a vegetable garden and coffee plantation, a yoga room and beautiful excursions; everything available around your own home on the Galápagos Islands.

Montemar consists of 3 villas (1 x max. 8 people, 2 x max. 4 people) that seem to be born organically from the landscape. And actually in some sense that is true. When building Montemar, the owners have created the most sustainable stay in Galápagos. 70% of the materials come from Galápagos itself: the walls are made of lava rock, the wood is bamboo and Spanish cedar wood. 100% of the water used is rainwater. Montemar treats rainwater with groundbreaking, non-invasive technology to retain all its natural benefits. 99% of the energy used comes from solar panels and solar boilers. Part of the organic meals that you will taste during your stay are prepared with ingredients from the home’s vegetable garden.

A stay at Montemar is truly a “home away from home”, but with the service of a five-star hotel. Each villa has a salon, private kitchen, spacious bathroom(s) and a terrace. The largest villa for 8 people offers you the opportunity to either be self-sufficient, or you can also stay here completely cared for where a chef prepares your daily gourmet meals. The two smaller villas also have their own salon and kitchen. Ingredients for breakfast are prepared by Montemar for you. A stay here is so fantastic that even the giant tortoises (who migrate completely freely through the country) no longer want to leave.

After our visit, we really did not want to leave either. The owners Reyna and Roberto have built this estate with love for the islands. Their passion is tangible in everything they do. They gave me a delicious and interesting coffee and chocolate tasting and spoke with pride about their beautiful vision and love for the Galápagos. Besides the stay they also arrange your excursions on the island of Santa Cruz or to the surrounding islands.
